I was a high tech corporate marketer in the Dot Com era and newly married when the industry went bust and I lost my job. I eventually landed but never for long. You could almost set your watch by it - every two and a half to three years I was on the move. I was well connected though and had access to what is often referred to as the hidden job market – a source of opportunities that aren't yet published on any major job board.
In 2005 I started forwarding job leads to a handful of friends. It just didn't seem right to hit delete with so many talented people looking for work. Over time the list grew, the economy tanked, and the list grew some more. I was touched to learn that hundreds of people felt as I did and were willing to share job leads with perfect strangers.
