Doing good helps me feel good! That’s one of the reasons I volunteer for two of the top industry trade organizations in Chicago, the Business Marketing Association and the American Marketing Association. Studies show time and time again that volunteering boosts happiness. Volunteers tend to be healthier, experience fewer aches and pains, and even live longer!
Another reason I volunteer for the BMA and AMA is because it helps me keep abreast of industry trends and meet like-minded peers in the community. There are plenty more industry associations in Chicago – some even have suburban chapters. Check out PCC, IABC, CAF, PRSA, CIMA, CADM, and more online.
Not quite ready to sign on the dotted line? You can still expand your mind and your network by attending any of the great events these organizations produce each month. To that end, here’s a snapshot of what’s happening in November – I hope to see you at one if not all of these fabulous programs:
November 3rd – Marketing Innovators Luncheon featuring Eduardo Conrado of Motorola Solutions hosted by BMA Chicago. Learn more >>
November 16th (morning) – B2B Pricing: Capturing the Profits You Earn featuring Dr. Tim Smith of Wiglaf Pricing hosted by BMA Chicago. Learn more >>
November 16th (late afternoon) – The Digital Media Roadmap featuring a panel of digital expert speakers hosted by Chicago AMA. Learn more >>
And here’s one more opportunity for you. The Metropolitan Club of Chicago is chartering a brand new chapter of ToastMasters. Meetings will be held the first and third Friday of every month from 11:45am – 1:00pm at The Club in Willis Tower. Not just for professional speakers, ToastMasters is perfect for anyone who wants more confidence speaking to strangers, persuading customers, or presenting to the boss. Your one-time materials fee is $20 and then you pay just $36 every six months. For more information or to register call 312-876-3200.
